Rollcage full game download
The review at GameSpot explains the pros and cons rather well: "This isn't the first racing game that puts you behind the wheel of an armed vehicle, but Rollcage stands apart from the pack in several ways. Most racing games - even ones where you're shooting at other drivers - put a premium on keeping your car on the track as much as possible. In Rollcage, on the other hand, you can not only bounce and flip and always land wheel-side down, but you also can drive along walls and even on tunnel ceilings.
You might wonder just why you'd bother doing that, but sometimes it's the best way to pass an opponent, as well as the only way to grab certain power-ups. Then there's the whole notion of collisions. Sure, they slow you down, but hit the right object - a column supporting a building, for instance - and you'll be long gone as your opponent either gets buried in debris or runs smack-dab into a smoking heap of rubble.
Of course, you might prefer a more direct approach to slowing down your opponents, and that's where the power-ups scattered around each track come into play. Homing missiles automatically target the weakest part of structures, letting you bring the walls tumbling down without slowing your own car down; you can also target a vehicle in front of you and flip it out of control.
The time warp slows down every car on the track except yours; leader missiles take out - you guessed it - the lead car; the driller bores through almost everything in its path; an ice sheet makes opponents lose nearly all their traction; and the wormhole lets you leapfrog past the car directly in front of you. And power-ups aren't limited to offensive weapons, either. Let's talk about the graphics. If your PC isn't running with a graphics accelerator in it, you're out of luck..
Rollcage requires that you have a 3D accelerator. If your system does have a 3D accelerator, then you are in for a visual treat. Rollcage carries the trademark Psygnosis futuristic look; complete with all the bright neon lights and flashy explosions. Level and track design are well done, with each track having its own unique style. Speaking of levels, Rollcage offers some nice, destructible levels. As mentioned in the description, you can level building in your path, causing your opponent s to think quick or take another route.
Which is possible considering that Rollcage has full free-roaming terrain. Control is nice, if you have a gamepad connected to your PC. For those of you who don't have a gamepad, you'll have a little harder time controlling your vehicle of mass destruction, but a little configuring here and there should do the trick. The machines are indestructible, which allows for players to slam into other players or building, etc.
This makes not only for more combat, but adds a bit of strategy into the mix. A warm welcome to any game. Have you not realized by now that this game is madness? There is no need for any kind of story: action is in control here.
However, there are different drivers to choose from. The differences between them are more than just cosmetic: you should choose depending on what style of driving you prefer. To that end, Tony is one of the fastest, but his car has the weakest grip, while Jet has a vehicle that sticks to the track perfectly but is weaker and slower than others. Visually this game really excels. At the time, this was one of the most beautiful 3D racing games. The race tracks are various, they gleam and shine, and the phenomenal explosions of any surrounding buildings or competitors vehicles complete the sense of pleasure that your eyes transmit to your brain.
You can race at night or day, in rain, snow, or beautiful sunny weather. The audio component is also excellent. Two things have prevented this insanely fast race to gain the top mark.
First is the camera, which is sometimes positioned too close to your vehicle - usually when you spin on the track - and cost you precious seconds while you get back to normal.
Another problem is the difficulty of the game. On Easy, the game is easy, therefore there is no problem. But Hard should be called Insane or Nightmare. A new opponent, Yuri, appears and he is always first, no matter how well you drive; and even if you are ahead of him, he will always end up 1st.
Terribly frustrating. So, the game lacks a Normal difficulty level, which would represent a reasonable challenge.
